Climate Change Policy


1. Instruction

Climate change is a global issue of common concern to the international community. In recent years, extreme weather events such as intense heat, drought and flood occur frequently around the world, and the impact of climate change is increasingly notable. The Company and its entities that adopt the management and control system of the Company (the “China Gas Group” or the “Group”) actively make contributions to the sustainable development of the environment, hoping to make use of advanced methods to mitigate climate change by identifying and dealing with climate related risks and opportunities.


2. Undertakings

The Group undertakes to:

(1) comply with the requirements of all applicable laws and regulations, and incorporate various policies and measures of the industry in response to climate change into the Group's operations and services to the extent possible.

(2) strengthen the ability to respond to the impact of climate change and natural disasters.

(3) set environmental protection goals, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption with scientific methods, and strive to achieve carbon neutrality within the Group by 2050.

(4) encourage each Group member to select low-carbon and high-energy-efficiency products and materials in the procurement process.

(5) support the use of renewable energy to reduce public consumption and carbon emissions.

(6) evaluate the risks and opportunities of climate change with reference to international and local certified standards.

(7) identify, evaluate and mitigate social crises caused by climate-related entities and transition risks.

(8) educate and promote knowledge about climate change to employees and users, and enhance the awareness of each Group member on climate change.


3. Monitoring and Reporting

The Group will evaluate this policy on a yearly basis. The evaluation results will be submitted to the Safety Management Committee and the Sustainable Development Committee for timely response.


4. Date of Adoption

This policy was issued for implementation on 31 May 2021, and will be updated in due course.
